What causes gum disease?
Very briefly, gum disease is caused by a buildup of bacterial plaque on teeth and around the gumline. The bacteria in this plaque release toxins that can irritate the soft tissues of your gums and cause an infection and other issues.
Do you offer non-surgical therapy for gum disease?
Dr. Hsu offers scaling and root planing to help patients manage or reverse gum disease. Together, these services form the basis of a treatment known as “deep cleaning.”
What happens if I gum disease isn’t treated?
If gum disease isn’t treated, it can lead to a host of issues that includes tooth loss and an increased risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, and preterm birth or low birth weight in pregnant women.
